Dr. Minera graduated from the University of San Carlos of Guatemala and obtained her doctorate in Dental Surgery. After graduating at the top of her class, she was offered a position as an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatric Dentistry in her Dental School. It was there where she developed a passion for growth and development and decided she wanted to pursue a post-graduate education in orthodontics. Dr. Minera was accepted to a three year program in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at Rutgers School of Dental Medicine in New Jersey, where she successfully obtained her degree and was involved in multiple research projects and publications. Dr. Minera is an active member of the American Association of Orthodontics, the Southern Association of Orthodontics, the Virginia Association of Orthodontics, and the American Dental Association. She also volunteers at the Dental free clinic in Warrenton and feels very blessed for the opportunity to help others and give back to the community that has given so much to her and her family. Dr. Minera now lives in the town of Warrenton with her husband of 20 years, Dr. Jorge Minera, partner physician at Piedmont Family Practice, her 16 year old daughter Sofia and 10 year son Sebastian. When Dr. Minera is not at the office working on beautiful smiles, she can be found shopping and participating in different events in town, she is very supportive of local businesses. She can also be found running the hills of Warrenton, Dr. Minera loves to run and has done her best to avoid them and it is impossible!
